Area guide

Living in Edgewater

Edgewater is the bayfront strip between Downtown and the Julia Tuttle Causeway, east of Biscayne Boulevard and north of the Venetian Causeway. Most of it is a narrow band of streets between the boulevard and Biscayne Bay. Many towers look straight across the water to Miami Beach.

Margaret Pace Park, at Northeast 18th Street, is the neighborhood's main green space, with a waterfront path and tennis courts. The Omni area and the Adrienne Arsht Center are just to the south. Midtown, Wynwood and the Design District sit across the boulevard to the west.

Metromover's Omni loop ends at School Board station, a few blocks from the south end of Edgewater. The existing stock mixes low-rise apartments from the 1950s and 1960s with high-rises built since the mid-2000s.

The current pipeline adds a run of tall towers along the water and on Northeast 29th Street. Several of them stand on sites that held older low-rise buildings.
