Living in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale's new condos cluster in two places: the downtown core along the New River, and the barrier island along the Atlantic. Downtown, towers rise around Las Olas Boulevard, Broward Boulevard, Andrews Avenue and the Riverwalk. The Brightline station near Broward Boulevard runs trains to Miami, West Palm Beach and Orlando.

Las Olas Boulevard heads east past the Las Olas Isles, finger islands lined with private docks, to Fort Lauderdale Beach. There, State Road A1A follows the ocean from Bahia Mar north to Sunrise Boulevard and Galt Ocean Mile. The Intracoastal Waterway and the city's canals give many buildings deep-water access.

Port Everglades and the airport sit just south of downtown. The existing stock ranges from 1960s and 1970s condos on Galt Ocean Mile to glass towers downtown.

The current pipeline adds tall towers downtown, near Las Olas and the Brightline station. It also adds smaller waterfront buildings on the isles and the Intracoastal.
